Week 3: Final major project


Subject Area: Architecture

Project Title: Residential area in Brutalist style

Project Objectives: For my architectural project I will design a small panel buildings consisting of 4 floors in the style of Soviet Brutalism. Apartments in this building will be affordable for any family. The design of this building will be without frills, minimalistic, which in general makes the purchase of apartment in this building quite acceptable. For this project I will create 2-4 architectural design boards and will include the concept and concept drawing . This project will be completed by the deadline at the beginning of December.

I will be researching the following designers / Architectures’: 

Le Corbusier, Paul Rudolph, Lina Bo Bardi, Moshe Sadie.

I will be using the following Digital Software:

SketchUp

Wix

Photoshop

Le Corbusier, Paul Rudolph, Lina Bo Bardi, Moshe Sadie.

Le Corbusier inspired me through  his innovate, functional, and timeless architectural designs, which continue to influence contemporary architecture and design.


3. Target audience 

The target audience may include architectural enthusiasts, lovers of modern and custom design, as well as those who apricate minimalism and raw, industrial elements in the interior. This buildings can attract people looking for unusual solutions for their homes and ready to experiment in design.

4. Research what a architects mood board looks like. The create your first mood board, with lots of images of the place, the style of architecture
5. Style of architecture

· Identify the Style of architecture 

Brutalism

· Identify any Special features.

Raw concept, Geometric shapes, Massive and Monolithic, Lack of Ornamentation, Emphasis on Functionality, Rough textures, Sculptural forms, Bold and Controversial. 

6. Site plan analysis

· Size of the site.

· The orientation of the building.

· Geology, soil typology, vegetation, hydrography

7. Construction technologies and materials

· Related to the project.

· Materials easily available in that region and mostly used.

· Technologies used in that region. Search for local materials / technologies

8. Environment

· Try to document a building situated in a region that is somewhat similar to the region in which the project will be designed.

9. Form and function

· define the function of the building

· Analyse the reason behind the building and how it merges with the surroundings or why it stands out or merges with the surroundings.
